Our mission
Last updated: 29 October 2024.
We provide order and overview of information on financial issues, ownership and liability in businesses.
The Brønnøysund Register Centre is a government body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, which manages the registers on behalf of nine ministries. Every year we receive an allocation letter that is a key governing document from the ministry. The allocation letter provides the society assignment and goals during the period. It outlines our financial framework and what priorities, performance targets and reporting requirements. Based on this, we will lay out our strategy.
Our mission for 2024 is:
We will contribute to increased economic growth through being a national register manager and data source. The agency is to manage register data in a way that provides security, order and overview for the business community, the voluntary sector, citizens and the public sector.
The users of the Brønnøysund Register Centre are defined as the business sector, voluntary sector, residents, and public sector. Based on the needs of the users and the societal mission, the desired effects are as follows:
- The registry operations of the Brønnøysund Register Centre should ensure that society has confidence that registered data are secure and correct.
- The register solutions of the Brønnøysund Register Centre should lead to efficient digital interaction with the business sector, voluntary sector, public sector, and individuals.
Our vision is: For trust and modernisation of society
We have four strategic ambitions that describe what we aim for and what we should prioritise both in daily operations and in long-term management.
- We shall simplify and innovate through collaboration and data sharing
- We shall create trust in society by providing transparency and accurate data
- We shall build an organisational culture with innovation and learning at its core
- We shall explore and responsibly utilise the opportunities that artificial intelligence provides
Sustainability
The UN has defined 17 sustainable development goals. We have chosen the three which we assume might be the ones we are most likely to be able to contribute to:
Sustainable development goal 8: Decent work and economic Growth
- The Brønnøysund Register Centre must provide a good work environment with equality and diversity. We have zero tolerance for discrimination based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, functional impairment or reduced work capacity.
- Through making data on sustainability for Norwegian businesses available, we contribute to decent work conditions, prevent fraud, and as a result of this combat work-related crime and financial crime.
- Through the availability of sustainability data we contribute to make businesses sustainability effort visible, and as a result of this sustainability reporting will be a competitive advantage.
Sustainable development goal 13: Climate action
- The Brønnøysund Register Centre must reduce emissions and other environmental impact that our operations contribute to. For instance through choice of means of transport, choice of technological solutions, digitalisation, energy efficiency, procurement routines and requirements for contractors.
Sustainable development goal 17: Partnerships for the goals
- The Brønnøysund Register Centre must contribute to the cooperation between public, voluntary and private sector, in order to speed up the shift towards a green transition.
- We will innovate, develop and share technology, build capacity and establish solid arenas for cooperation for a sustainable development.
User surveys
We work systematically to improve, and we measure systematically whether or not we succeed with our goals and strategies. Amongst other things, we carry out annual user surveys in order to gain knowledge about what our users’ opinions are.
