Brønnøysund is a pleasant little coastal town in the south of Helgeland. We have short distances to work, leisure and service offerings.
Flights and other public transport
The town has good communications with a good range of flights. There are daily flights to and from Trondheim (approx. 35 minutes), Bodø (approx. 45 minutes) and to Oslo (approx. 120 minutes) during the summer. The Coastal Express docks daily both on northbound and southbound. In addition, we have an express boat that takes you to Vega, Ylvingen and our neighbouring town Sandnessjøen.
City life
As a regional centre, Brønnøysund offers a wide range of shops. We have several good restaurants with exiting local food, nightclubs with concert stages and quizzes, cafés and a bustling boating life in the summer time.
Music and culture
Brønnøysund has a good and wide range of music and cultural life. Every summer, The Root’s festival is organised with both national and international artists. In addition, we have several choirs and brass bands, a jazz club, a library, a municipal cultural school, a children’s theatre and rock workshop. You can also go to the cinema and visit various galleries.
Activities and outdoor time
For those who love nature, Brønnøysund is a perfect starting point for getting out. The distance is short to wonderful nature experiences ashore, up in the mountains and in the archipelago.
The area offers wonderful top hikes in summer, as well as winter. It is a short distance to Lomsdalen-Visten National Park, and both Norwegian and Swedish winter sport venues are within easy reach. There are also many nice hiking trails close to the centre, and our landmark Torghatten is really unique and is worth a visit.
The region is set up for island hopping by bicycle, and you will find Vega archipelago world heritage area just outside your doorstep. Brønnøysund has an active sea sports club dealing with kayaking, sailing and rowing.
Brønnøysund also have two fitness centres, several athletic clubs and a climbing hall.
Family life
We have a good upbringing environment with full kindergarten coverage. We have two upper secondary schools. There are many leisure activities to opt for children and young people.
